Our precious Dori, at the age of 13, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, February 19, 2018. She became a member of our family eleven years ago when we adopted her from Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue.
Dori demanded her love, but also had tons of love to give to her family, humans and critters (including the cat), and everyone she met. She loved to go on walks and even understood what the word “walk” meant. If we talked about going for “a walk”, we would have to use “W” for the word walk. Otherwise, Dori would think we were going right at that moment and she would start bucking and “woo woo wooing”.
She was terribly afraid of the thunder and spent many days at work with her human mama. She became known as the “Library dog” because not only did she visit some, but her photo was used to make the students smile for their student ID. She loved her costumes and one of the best pictures we used in the library was of her in her R2D2 sweater. Her expression was with a smile and a wink which not only made students smile, but elicit a good chuckle too.
Her human dad was her favorite human and she loved sitting with him on the couch in the evenings. She would sit right next to him and if he wasn’t petting her or have his arm around her she would lean back and fall into him.
Dori will always have a special place in our hearts and we will really miss her. Thank you Golden Beginnings for letting our family provide her with her Forever Home.
